Egbert Imomoh

Egbert has a B.Eng degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Birmingham, UK on a Shell scholarship. On graduation, he joined Shell in 1968 as a Petroleum Engineer and rose to the position of Deputy Managing Director of Shell Petroleum Development Company, Nigeria in 1997 and retired in 2002. His career included multiple international assignments in Europe.
After his retirement from Shell, Egbert co-founded Afren Plc, a pan-African independent Oil and Gas company that had offices in the UK and Nigeria.
Egbert’s commitment to the oil and gas industry is unparalleled. He was a founding member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers in Nigeria, an SPE Distinguished Member, an Honorary member, the first SPE regional director for Africa, the 2013 SPE International President and and is currently the President of the SPE Foundation Trustees.
Egbert’s extensive Board experience includes Shell Petroleum Nigeria, Chairman of Guaranty Trust Bank PLC, Afren, Investment One Financial Services LTD, and First Hydrocarbon Nigeria LTD.
He has been granted the national award of Commander of the Niger (CON) and a Papal award of the Knight of Saint Gregory. He also has a number of honouary chietancy titles.
